Is it just me or does time seem to be getting faster and faster every day/month/year. I mean seriously, amidst quarantines and working from home, two things which would seem to make time slower and days longer, we somehow find ourselves preparing for Halloween! It almost feels as if 2020 didn't really happen (which I'm sure many wish to be true)! Well before we know it, 2020 will be over and we will start a new year. But what will 2021 be like? How long will Covid last? Who will win the Superbowl? OK, maybe not that last one, but you get the point. With so many uncertainties ahead, the only thing we know for sure is that 2021 is coming, and its coming fast!
Why does this matter? Well for one some of us don't necessarily enjoy the whole getting older thing. But more importantly, with so much of the worlds happenings being out of our control these days, we should all try to really capitalize on and appreciate the things we can control.
For yourself, take a moment to breathe. Take a moment to enjoy the sand under your toes, or the stars above your head. Work on being the best version of you. Instead of just "riding the wave", why not create the wave?!
For others, go out of your way to compliment someone. Participate in activities for others even if you aren't really interested. Pay it forward and buy a stranger a coffee. Let people know that you love them.
These are just a few examples of ways that you can better yourself and the world around you. Not only are you making a positive impact for your self and others, you are literally slowing down time. How? Because while doing these things, you are in the moment, aware, taking action, and taking advantage of every second. Time can only flyby if it goes unnoticed. So my advice, notice it and make an effort to be present each and every day.
